How do I enable 2FA to access Cyber Guardian?

When you enable the 2FA Policy, all users in your company who authenticate to Cyber Guardian using a username and password will be required to install and configure an app on their mobile phones, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, so that they can log in to the platform using a temporary code automatically generated on their mobile phone.

To enable the 2FA Policy for your company as a Cyber Guardian customer, follow steps 1 to 6 below:

1. Under Settings > My Account, enable the 2FA Policy.

2FA EN 1

2. Log out, return to the Login screen and enter your username and password. You will then see a screen like this.

2FA EN 2

3. Download and install the Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone from the Google Play Store if you have an Android phone, or from the Apple App Store if you have an iOS phone.

4. Use the app to scan the QR code displayed on the screen. You can also use the app's secret key. Once you have done this, you will see that a connection to Cyber Guardian and your username has been created in the app, displaying a six-digit OTP (One-Time Password) that changes periodically.

5. Enter the OTP displayed in the app in the previous window. Your 2FA is now configured.

6. Recovery codes. You will see the following confirmation screen. This window provides nine single-use recovery codes. Store these recovery codes in a secure location separate from your mobile phone (in case you are unable to access the six-digit OTP on your mobile phone at any point).

2FA EN 3

You can now access the platform using 2FA. If you return to Settings > My Account, you will see the following information where you can check that the 2FA Policy is enabled for your company and that 2FA is also enabled for your user account.

2FA EN 4

From that point onwards, whenever you log in to the platform with your username, you will see this screen:

2FA EN 5

You will need to check the app on your mobile phone at that time to enter the six-digit OTP. If you do not have access to the app at that time, you can click "Use a recovery code".

2FA EN 6

You can then enter one of the recovery codes provided previously. These recovery codes are for single use only, so if you have already used one, you will not be able to use it again.

If you also do not have access to any of these recovery codes, you will need to contact support at support@cyberguardian.tech

If necessary, for example if you have changed your mobile phone or want to change your 2FA app, under Settings > My Account you can reset 2FA for your user account by clicking the Reset button.

2FA EN 7

This will allow you to configure 2FA for your account again. To do this, Cyber Guardian will ask you one final time for the 2FA code from your current app. Once you have entered it, you will automatically be logged out. When you log in again, you can repeat the steps described above. We recommend deleting the previous connection from your app before step 4 to avoid confusing it with the new connection.

Important: If you decide to disable the 2FA Policy, please note that it will be disabled for all users with administrator or viewer access to Cyber Guardian. Cyber Guardian will therefore not ask them for 2FA the next time they log in. To disable it, click Disable.
